Message Takeaways - Doing God’s Work Together

Doing God’s Work Together

Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 18:1–11; Matthew 5:14; Acts 18:12–13

Jesus calls His church to go into the world with confidence, knowing He holds all authority and is always with us. Pastor Stu teaches that God’s strategy for Gospel impact has always centered on the city, because life flows from the city and people come seeking new beginnings. Paul modeled this by entering Corinth—a messy, diverse, chaotic urban center—and planting a church that reached “many in this city who are My people.” In the same way, Redemption Hills is called to love, serve, and transform Denver with the Gospel rather than withdraw from it.

Takeaways
  • You are called to see your city as God sees it—full of people He already claims as His own.
  • You are invited to embrace courage and keep speaking the Gospel even when criticism comes.
  • You are called to live as a “city on a hill,” using your gifts differently from the surrounding culture.
  • You are sent to help transform your city by loving Jesus, living like Jesus, and welcoming newcomers.

This week, remember that God has placed you in this city for a purpose. Ask Him to give you eyes to see the people around you as those He may already be drawing to Himself, and look for small ways to live out the Gospel in your neighborhood, workplace, and relationships.

Four ideas to reflect on this week:

Devotional 1 — “Do Not Be Afraid”
Acts 18:9–10
Reflection Question: Where is fear keeping me silent when God has called me to speak?
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, give me courage this week to speak Your truth with confidence, trusting that You are with me.”

Devotional 2 — “A City on a Hill”
Matthew 5:14
Reflection Question: How does my everyday life reflect the light of Christ to my city?
Prayer Prompt: “Jesus, help my life shine clearly so others can see You through my actions and attitudes.”

Devotional 3 — “Many in This City”
Acts 18:10
Reflection Question: Who in my life might already be among those God is calling to Himself?
Prayer Prompt: “Father, open my heart to love the people You’ve placed around me and give me boldness to share Your love.”

Devotional 4 — “Sent Out”
Matthew 28:19–20
Reflection Question: What step of obedience can I take this week to help make disciples?
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, send me where You want me and use my life to help others follow You.”
