At Home Family Advent - Peace - Week 2

At Home Family Advent  - Peace

The word “peace” is the Hebrew word “shalom”, which means “completeness” or “well-being.” When Jesus was born, He did not come into a world with shalom/peace—it has a lot of problems! Some problems even include wars, sickness, and conflict. Jesus didn’t come just to end these things. Instead, He first came to make us all “complete,” to have shalom/peace, by saving us from our worst problem: sinfulness. By His perfect life, death, and resurrection from the dead, He defeated sin and death! So, all we have to do is trust in Jesus as the Son of God, who did these things for us, and we will have the true peace/shalom of God. This week, we are reminded that Jesus brings the promise of peace to our lives.

READ & DISCUSS
Luke 2:1-7 - Why did Joseph take Mary to Bethlehem? Why is it important to know that both Joseph and Mary were from the lineage of David?
Romans 5:1-2  - How do we have peace with God? How do we have access to God’s grace?
Philippians 4:6-7 - What can we come to God with? How do we pray with thankfulness in our hearts? Who’s peace is given to us and what does it guard?
