At Home Family Advent - Joy
Joy is a deep sense of well-being that goes beyond our circumstances. Joy comes from the Lord in good times and bad. The angels describe Jesus’s birth as “good news of great joy” because He came to be our Savior! The Bible tells us that right after they announced this news to the shepherds, thousands of angels appeared and sang “Glory to God” because Jesus had been born. This week, we are reminded of the joy of salvation in Jesus—the most incredible gift that was given to a lost and broken world.

Psalm 16:11 - Where is the fullness of joy found?
Luke 2:7-20 - How did the angel describe the news? Who were the first to receive the news of Jesus birth? What was their response? What was Mary’s response?
James 1:2-4 - Who is capable of joy? When can we have joy? Why should we choose joy even in difficult situations?
PRAY
Pray together as a family asking the Holy Spirit to help you choose joy no matter what is going on in life.
SING “Joy to the World”
ACTIVITY
Use a star cookie cutter to make some delicious cookies together and light the pink candle.
