Life Groups
And every day, all together and from house to house, they taught and preached Jesus the Christ. (Acts 5:42)
What are Life Groups all About?
Following the biblical example, Life Groups are where we experience Church life (Acts
2:36–47) and engage in Jesus’ mission (Matthew 28:16–20; Mark 16:15; Luke/Acts 1:8;
John 20:21) from house to house (“H2H”). The resulting relationships are robust and
meaningful as we participate in all that God is doing in each other’s lives as well as in
the lives of those all around us.
Church Life and Mission...H2H
Being and Making Disciples
The format of Life Groups emerges from our mission to be and make disciples (Matthew 28:16–20). It works for everyone. It gives us opportunity to support and celebrate each other. It creates time and space to hear from God each week through both Scripture and prayer. And finally, we practice obeying Jesus week by week.
Witnessing and Gospeling
Jesus’ final instructions according to Luke and Mark were for us to be witnesses and to share the gospel. Life Groups take this mission seriously by learning simple testimony and gospel-sharing tools and then pursuing opportunities individually throughout the week to share the good news about King Jesus and all that he is doing in our lives.
Bringing Peace and Reconciliation
Just as Jesus came that humanity might experience peace/reconciliation with God and each other, Life Groups seek to be both examples and agents of peace/reconciliation as we gather together and as we go about our lives.
Church Life
Church Life in the New Testament took place in both large gatherings and from house to house (Acts 2:36–47). We experience this same kind of Church Life both as we gather at RHC and as we scatter from house to house:
- Gospeling
- Repenting
- Baptizing
- Being Spirit-filled
- Engaging Scripture
- Breaking Bread
- Fellowshipping
- Generous Hospitality
- Praising God
- Adding and Multiplying
- Praying
